Working to keep Margate Safe and Beautiful

As a result of some Margate Landlords and business people getting together to enhance security and safety initiatives in Margate, two teams of four SAPS Reservists were activated during the second half of April 2010 in Margate. Feedback from both the community and holidaymakers has been encouraging. Besides the added deterrent offered as visible policing is elevated, the public “fear of crime” is continually being addressed whilst meaningful and mutually beneficial partnerships are being built with law enforcers. The Reservist team has been focused on bylaw enforcement and petty crime, which as we all know, sometimes lead to serious incidents of crime. The team, which is managed by Insp Gavin Palmer of SAPS, is backed up by SAPS and Protection Services operation teams and the Hibiscus Coast Municipality CCTV Camera Room.
