What a wonderful day, Saturday 5th of September, turned out to be. The Spring Parade was a great success!!! You could say the day was colourful, pretty, funny and sometimes a bit weird but all was done to built on the vision to make Margate bigger and better.

Margate Centenary Cycle Challenge

The popular cycle race on the lower South Coast is now back with a new date and a safe and fast route. On Sunday 06th September, the 95km riders headed south from the centre of Margate to the KZN Border and then turned and headed back to Port Shepstone and returned to Margate.

 

Sunday the 06th September offered cyclists and their supporters a fun filled day with a Kids Fun Zone, Toddlers Cycle Tour and Jazz Quartet.

Drag Racing Margate Airport

Its’ all systems go on Sunday 9th August when the long awaited drag racing at the popular Margate Airport venue will turn the South Coast town into a hype of activity. More than 220 car and bike enthusiasts from all over KZN will have their adrenalin rush as they stage, launch and push their vehicles to the limit to be ahead at the finish line. Margate Drag Racing KZN Motor Racing Chairman, Kas Moodley, says that the coastal venue is very popular among competitors and spectators alike and was last used in 2005.

Prince William and Harry visit Port Edward

Princes William and Harry who departed Port Edward Prince Wiliam and prince Harry motorbike charity ride honda cr250on Friday, 17 October on a charity motorbike enduro, have been struck by a violent tummy bug four days into their South African motorbike rally. The brothers are among more than half a dozen hit by the illness, known locally as the Transkei Tummy, the Mail can reveal. The bug, which is usually contracted from local water, has left the pair looking 'grey and peaky', a fellow rider said.

SA Junior Surfing Championships

SA Junior Surfing Championships to be held at St Mikes beach from 1 - 5 October 2008 will as always be an event to remember. Southern Kwazulu Natal Surfing (the official governing body of surfing in this region) are this years hosts for what will probably be the last ever junior event of this nature because wheels are already in motion to combine all three National Surfing Championships into one.
